Art has been my obsession since childhood, with drawing as a constant practice and painting shaped by an early love of art history. As a teenager, I sought out books on the High Renaissance and Baroque, drawn to the raw intensity of Titian and Caravaggio. Their works, beyond mere technique, embodied something deeper— what some call the unconscious, and others have seen as the numinous. I’ve long been fascinated by the tension between primal human instincts and the constraints of civilization, a dynamic that continues to drive my work. After studying painting at the Edna Manley College of the Visual Arts, I interned at the National Gallery of Jamaica while maintaining a studio in downtown Kingston. My influences span from the old masters to the haunting imagery of filmmakers like David Lynch and photographers like Joel-Peter Witkin. Though rooted in tradition, my work is stripped down and distilled to its essentials.
